What an attempt keeps as evidence
So that the employer who invited you can review your work, an attempt keeps:
- the email address the invitation was sent to;
- the task version and the assessment conditions you worked under;
- your conversation with the coding agent: your instructions, its questions and your answers;
- the code at the start and at submission, with the differences between them;
- the commands the agent ran and their results, including test results;
- usage counts, such as tokens and time;
- the assessment of your submitted work and any reviewer corrections to it.
The employer’s reviewers and the FairPrompt operator can see this evidence. The coding agent’s model requests, which include your messages and workspace content, are processed by OpenAI.
What is never kept
Sign-in tokens are never kept in assessment evidence. When candidates can sign in with ChatGPT, that token will stay outside their command execution and be deleted when the VM is destroyed after submission. Nothing else on the VM is kept beyond the evidence listed above.
Who pays for the AI
You don’t need an API key or an AI subscription, and the pilot is free for candidates. Employer-funded access, where the employer who invited you pays for the coding agent’s requests through its own API access, is planned.
We’re applying to OpenAI to let invited candidates sign in with ChatGPT and use their own ChatGPT plan. That isn’t available yet.
How long evidence is kept
Evidence is kept so the inviting employer can review the attempt. There is no fixed deletion date yet. You can ask for your attempt to be deleted at contact@fairprompt.ai.

The pilot
FairPrompt is in a small invited pilot of fewer than 50 people. It’s free for candidates, and there’s no public sign-up.
